How do I share or import a plan?
Share Saved Plan creates a .radarroute file that another Radar Route user can open as an independent saved plan. The file carries locations and requirements, not live outing progress.

Share a route as a reusable plan
- Open a route with stops and open Route Actions.
- Choose Share Saved Plan. Review the included stops.
- Check Include Stop Notes, which starts on. Turn it off if you do not want to include notes.
- Tap Share Plan and choose a destination in the iPhone share sheet.
The shared file is a reusable plan even when created from an active or past outing. Anyone with the file can read the included locations and notes; inspect both before sharing.
Review and save an incoming plan
- Open the .radarroute file in Radar Route, or open Routes and tap Import Saved Plan to choose the file.
- Review Route name, starting place, stops, notes, requirements, and finish. Rename it if desired.
- Tap Save Plan to create an independent entry in Saved Routes, or Cancel to save nothing.
- When you want to use it, open that saved plan and follow Start Route, review, Plan, then Start Now.
Saving an import does not start it. Existing routes remain separate. An incoming file waits until open planning pages or modal tasks close, rather than replacing an unsaved draft. Finish reviewing one imported plan before opening another.
Know what is included
- Location bookmarks or entered addresses, chosen names and icons, stop order, visit durations, timing and order requirements, selected outing day, and optional notes.
- No outing progress, calculated driving estimates, or departure-reminder preferences.
- A Current Location starting mode uses the recipient’s own position for their outing. The sender’s captured Current Location start is left out. A manually chosen fixed location remains included.
The recipient needs Radar Route. This is file sharing, not cloud synchronization or live collaboration. Changes made to an imported plan do not update the sender’s copy.
Handle loading and file errors
A connection is needed to load current Apple place details. If details cannot load during import, you can save the bookmarks and use Retry Loading Locations later. An unresolved placeholder cannot be used as a navigation target.
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| Invalid plan file | Ask the sender to share the plan again from Radar Route. |
| Newer format | Use a compatible Radar Route version before opening it. |
| File too large | Ask for a smaller plan. File validation allows at most 2,000,000 bytes and 1,000 imported stops. |
| Import seems delayed | Finish the current import review and close open editors so the queued review can appear. |
Those file limits are import safeguards, not a promise of practical route capacity. Current files use sharing format 6; validated formats 1 through 6 are accepted. The app does not offer whole-library export.
