How do I add a stop along my route?
Search Along Route finds a shortlist of places near a selected leg’s roads. Compare the added driving, then include visit duration and requirements in a full itinerary review before confirming.

Search a selected driving leg
- Open an unfinished route’s details, or a builder draft with enough information to plan, and tap Search Along Route.
- Choose Driving Leg. Check its origin, destination, and the Add before or Add before finishing at insertion text.
- Enter a place name or category in Search by name or category, such as restaurants, gas stations, hotels, or groceries.
- Tap Search This Leg. Read the results under Least Added Driving First.
The added-driving value excludes time spent at the new stop. It is different from the straight-line distances in the ordinary place picker.
Review and confirm the extra visit
- Choose a result and set its duration, note, timing, and order requirements.
- Tap Review Addition, which may appear as Review at accessibility text sizes.
- Check the proposed insertion point, visit duration, total driving, waiting, and any finish estimate. The remaining itinerary is checked against your requirements.
- Use Edit Stop Details to adjust the proposal, or Keep Searching to return to results.
- Confirm with Add to Draft, Add to Saved Plan, or Add to Route, according to where you started.
- If working in the builder, also confirm the parent route with Done or Plan.
Cancelling the builder discards an addition made only to its draft. If a changed destination repeats a place already on the route, review the warning and choose Add Another Visit only when intentional.
Understand result and preview limits
The search samples areas along actual roads, currently up to eight areas and a shortlist of eight candidates for driving estimates. Longer legs therefore cover selected areas, not every business. Places already on the route are excluded from normal results, and partial service results are labeled.
A preview older than five minutes is checked again before it can be added. If progress or the route changes while the search is open, close it and search the current remaining route again.
Use Cancel Check to stop a running check. If the baseline cannot load, Try Again retries it and Choose Starting Place supplies a manual origin. A proposed stop that cannot fit can be revised through Review Stop Details; it is not added without confirmation.
