Which permissions and local settings does Radar Mouse use?
Radar Mouse uses Accessibility access to change scroll direction. It saves your direction choices locally and uses macOS’s existing settings for trackpad suppression and automatic startup.

What Accessibility access enables
The scroll control reads scroll events, identifies the originating device when possible, and changes vertical scrolling for devices set to Reverse. The current app does not ask for separate Input Monitoring, Full Disk Access, Screen Recording, or Automation permission for these tasks.
The welcome window says It only watches scrolling — nothing is recorded, stored, or sent. This describes scroll activity. The app still saves your chosen settings so it can remember them.
The menu bar panel also notices clicks elsewhere to dismiss itself. That interaction does not create a click-history log. Radar Mouse’s current source has no scroll recording, analytics upload, account sign-in, or cloud sync workflow.
What is remembered locally
| Choice or state | Where it is managed | What reopening does |
|---|---|---|
| Device Scroll direction | Radar Mouse’s local preferences, using the device’s reported identity | Reads the saved choice for that identity; uses the kind default if no choice exists. |
| Disable trackpad | Native macOS trackpad setting | Reads the system option when the shortcut is shown; does not automatically turn it off. |
| Launch at Login | macOS login registration | Reports whether macOS considers registration enabled. |
| Accessibility permission | Privacy & Security → Accessibility in System Settings | Checks whether macOS trusts the running app. |
Quitting does not erase these settings. Reconnecting through a different transport can create a different reported identity. There is no in-app export, sync, import, forget-device, or reset-all action.
Stop the app or revoke permission
To stop scroll processing for the current session, right-click or Control-click the menu bar icon and choose Quit Radar Mouse. That preserves saved direction choices.
To withdraw permission, turn Radar Mouse off in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. The app should detect the change, dim its direction controls, and stop reversal. Grant access again if you want to resume. See Apple’s permission instructions.
The built-in trackpad option and Launch at Login are separate settings. Turn them off separately if that is your intent. Revoking Accessibility is not a reset for either one.
What to check after changing app copies
If the welcome window returns or the controls are dimmed after an app replacement, check that macOS recognizes Accessibility permission for the installed copy. A change in the app’s signing identity can require another grant.
Use the permission troubleshooting steps. The app has no About or Check for Updates command, so include the version or download you installed when reporting an update-related problem. Do not erase all app preferences just to investigate a permission symptom.
