How do I adjust brightness, True Tone, HDR and display color?
Expand the display you want to change. Radar Display shows the brightness and color controls it can verify for that display. Their absence does not mean the app has forgotten a setting.

How do I change brightness?
Drag Brightness to dim or brighten a supported display. The change is applied while you adjust the slider. Let the slider settle before collapsing its display card or closing the panel; a final pending slider update is canceled when the settings section disappears. The app does not provide a numeric brightness field.
Brightness is not available on every external monitor. Some displays expose this control only in particular modes, including while HDR is enabled. If the slider is absent, use the monitor's own controls or the brightness controls macOS offers for that display.
Radar Display does not independently remember and reapply your brightness level after reconnecting. The display or macOS may retain it.
When should I use Automatically adjust brightness?
Turn on Automatically adjust brightness if you want a supported display to respond to ambient light. Turn it off if you want to choose brightness yourself.
This switch appears only when the required brightness and sensor capabilities are available. Radar Display reads the current system setting; it does not impose its own default or save a separate reconnect preference for it.
What does True Tone change?
True Tone adjusts display color and intensity for ambient light. Some accessibility display options can disable it. Apple's True Tone guide explains supported displays and those interactions.
Radar Display offers True Tone on the built-in display's card when it can access the setting. That switch changes the system's True Tone setting; it is not an independent per-monitor preference. Its effects on other supported displays depend on macOS and the connected hardware.
Turn it off when you want to remove that ambient-light adjustment, or on when you want it enabled. Radar Display does not store a separate True Tone choice to restore on reconnect.
How do I turn HDR on or off?
Use the HDR switch on a display that supports a readable HDR setting. The change applies immediately.
The switch can be absent if HDR support or its current state cannot be established for the display. Radar Display does not create HDR capability or offer it on a Sidecar card. Changing HDR can also change which brightness controls are available.
HDR is one of the physical-display preferences Radar Display remembers and attempts to restore when that display becomes active again.
When should I choose a Preset?
If your display provides usable display presets, Radar Display shows Preset and the preset names supplied by the display and macOS. Choose the preset appropriate to your task using the display maker's or Apple's guidance for that display.
The app shows valid, visible presets. It does not create or calibrate presets. On a card with Preset, Color profile is not also shown; these are alternative control surfaces in Radar Display.
Preset changes apply immediately. Radar Display does not keep a separate preset preference for reconnect restoration, although the system or display can retain the selected preset.
How do I choose a Color profile?
- Expand the display.
- Open Color profile, when offered.
- Choose an installed profile by name.
The picker includes appropriate installed RGB display profiles, the factory profile when it can be identified, and the current profile when needed. Available names vary by Mac and installed profiles. The app only shows this picker when there is a usable choice among profiles and Preset is not taking its place.
Selecting the display's factory profile removes the custom profile override. Radar Display does not have an import, browse, or calibration tool; install or manage profiles through the appropriate macOS tools first.
Radar Display remembers the selected physical-display profile and can restore it if that profile is still available. A removed or unreadable profile cannot be reapplied merely because it was selected before.
Why did a control disappear, and what is remembered?
The controls are based on capabilities and readable values. They can change after reconnecting, changing modes, switching HDR, or changing the connected hardware. Reopen the panel to refresh the display's capabilities.
Radar Display saves physical-display HDR and Color profile preferences. It does not separately save Brightness, Automatically adjust brightness, True Tone, or Preset for reconnect restoration.
There is no universal Radar Display brightness, profile, preset, or HDR default. On first use, these controls reflect what the system or display reports. If a write fails, read the error beneath the affected display. A successful unrelated change does not clear a failed brightness or color operation.
