How do I record portrait and landscape videos together?
Start one take, stop it once, and wait for both videos to save.

- Tap the video-camera symbol above the shutter to select Video mode. The idle shutter has a red center.
- Choose the camera setup and quality before starting. Check both live previews and the microphone indicator.
- Tap the red shutter, Start recording.
- Confirm the elapsed timer is running. The shutter becomes a red square, the landscape border turns red, and the landscape window shows REC.
- Tap the square, Stop recording, when finished.
- Wait through Saving to Photos…. On the first save, answer the Photos access prompt.
- Wait for Both saved to Photos, then open Apple's Photos app to find the portrait and landscape videos.
What the two files contain
The app saves two separate videos, one 9:16 and one 16:9. When microphone audio is active, the same captured audio is written into both. The app writes HEVC video in MOV files. Saved video is SDR; there is no HDR or codec selector in Settings.
The capture system chooses frame pacing automatically. Camera budgeting, low light, or heat can reduce frame rate; there is no user FPS control. Do not assume every take is fixed at 30 fps.
Controls during recording
Camera setup, mode, app-wide Settings, and flash changes are unavailable during a take. Pinch zoom, short focus taps, and teleprompter controls remain useful. Camera controls can still be opened to change Face tracking; its camera choices and Flash picker are disabled while recording. Stop recording remains reachable in the viewfinder, including expanded landscape.
Starting the teleprompter does not start recording, and starting recording does not automatically play the script. A script's countdown is only a scrolling countdown.
Keep Radar Camera in the foreground for the take. Switching away can interrupt the camera; background save allowance is for finishing capture/save work, not continuing to film in the background.
