How do I control flash and video lighting?
Choose Automatic, On, or Off in Camera controls before shooting.
- While idle, open Camera controls.
- Under Flash, choose Automatic, On, or Off.
- Close the drawer and take the photo or start the video.
In Photo mode, the app requests the chosen flash mode from supported photo outputs. In Video mode, it applies the selected torch mode while recording and turns the torch off when recording ends. Automatic lets the device decide; On requests lighting; Off requests no flash/torch. The app does not keep a video torch running merely because the idle preference is On.
Support depends on the selected cameras. Selfie photos can use the front camera's supported screen flash, but selfie video has no front torch. In Both mode the front photo flash is suppressed, and flash/torch capability comes from the rear camera. The drawer can show Flash is unavailable for this camera. Unsupported modes may be unavailable or fall back to supported behavior; a selected On preference is not a guarantee every lens has a lamp.
For closer timing between rear and selfie photos, choose Off. Rear flash pre-exposure can delay one image. The Flash picker is disabled during capture, save, switching, and recording; choose the preference beforehand.
