Radar Camera · Troubleshooting

What do I do when the camera or recording stops?

Read the Error, resolve the interruption or storage problem, and restart the camera if offered.

If controls or previews are temporarily unavailable

Wait for Starting camera…, Switching cameras…, Checking 4K availability…, or Saving to Photos… to finish. Camera setup, modes, flash, and shutter can be unavailable while another capture operation is in progress. Both setup also waits for fresh frames from both cameras before enabling capture. Opening the camera drawer hides the landscape window; close it to see that preview again.

If a pending-save Error has Try Again/Discard, resolve that capture before attempting another. A shutter that resurfaces the same save error is protecting an unresolved pair.

If another app or backgrounding interrupted the camera

The error can say Another app is using the microphone., Another app is using the camera., The camera stops while Radar Camera is in the background., or The camera was interrupted.

  1. End the competing camera/microphone use, or return Radar Camera to the foreground.
  2. Let any finishing save or recovery alert settle.
  3. Wait for live previews again. Some interruptions recover automatically.
  4. If the error offers Restart Camera, tap it and wait for setup.
  5. Check both views and sound status before manually starting the next take.

An interrupted take stops. The app attempts to finalize and save a usable captured pair when available, and still explains why recording ended. It does not automatically start a new take when the interruption ends. If nothing usable was recorded, no saved pair is guaranteed.

If videos have no sound

Look for the crossed-out microphone beside the timer. Its VoiceOver label is Microphone off. Videos record without sound. This appears when permission is absent or when audio did not join the running camera session.

  1. Open Settings → Permissions → Microphone and allow access if wanted.
  2. Stop/resolve capture work and allow the app to rebuild a silent session when idle.
  3. Wait for ready previews and check that the indicator has cleared before recording again.
  4. If microphone access is Allowed but the indicator remains, resolve competing microphone use and use Restart Camera if offered. Include the indicator and permission status when contacting support.

Photos never save an audio track. The same audio is written to both videos when active. Enabling the microphone later cannot restore sound that was absent from a previous take.

If storage or heat ended recording

Not enough storage to record. Free up space and try again. means the admission check refused to start. Free space in iPhone storage, choose HD if appropriate, then retry. Two files consume space for each take; start thresholds do not promise a minimum recording duration.

The camera stopped to cool down. or The camera paused to cool down. means the device's camera pressure interrupted capture. Let the phone cool and return to live previews before starting again. The app can lower cadence under pressure and tries to salvage a usable pair at shutdown; it does not guarantee an uninterrupted long take on every device.

If a writer or video stream failed

Possible exact errors include:

  • Recording stopped: no video is arriving.
  • Recording stopped: video stopped arriving.
  • Recording stopped: the video couldn't be written to storage.
  • Recording stopped: the two videos stopped matching.

Resolve any pending save, inspect whatever pair reached Photos, and use Restart Camera when offered. If a particular simultaneous-camera setup continues to fail, try HD, another compatible rear lens, or a rear/selfie-only setup to narrow the conditions. Report the exact message, iPhone model, iOS version, camera setup, shooting mode, quality, sound indicator, and whether the failure happens immediately or after time.
